Frequently asked questions.

Who is Isar Informatics for?
Small and mid-sized businesses in the Greater Munich area that want to outsource all or part of IT or extend an existing team. We manage hardware, software, cloud and security as one environment.
Do you come on site?
Yes. We carry out infrastructure, network and hardware work on site in the Greater Munich area. Cloud, security and support services can also be delivered remotely where appropriate.
How quickly do you respond to a problem?
We agree response times individually during the initial consultation, depending on the service level you choose.
Do you offer training as well?
Yes. The Isar Academy provides practical phishing and cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, Claude and AI training—in-house or online, in German or English.
What does switching from our current provider look like?
We collect documentation, access, contracts, open tickets and known risks in a structured way. Responsibility transfers in stages so that ownership remains clear throughout the change.
Can you take over an existing IT environment?
Yes. We identify what can continue securely and economically. You do not need to replace everything before we can manage it.
Do you work on contracts or on demand?
Both. Projects are scoped clearly; ongoing operations use agreed managed services. The right model depends on your environment, risk and required response time.
What does it cost?
That depends on scope. After the initial consultation we give you a concrete figure — no vague flat rates and no hidden line items.
How do you back up our data?
Retention, backup destinations and recovery objectives are aligned to your requirements. Platform resilience and retention may be supplemented with independent backup. Restore tests validate real recovery.
What happens if something fails on a weekend?
Planned maintenance and emergency support are agreed contractually. We offer 24/7 security monitoring only when an appropriate MDR or SOC service is included.
Where is our data processed?
That depends on the solution, plan and configuration. We document selected data regions, relevant processors and contractual safeguards and align them to your requirements.
How long are we tied into a contract?
Term and notice periods are stated in the proposal. Project work and ongoing managed services use different agreements.
Do you also procure hardware for us?
Yes. We advise on selection, procurement, staging, rollout and inventory for PCs, notebooks, servers, networks and security hardware.
How quickly is a new employee ready to start?
With an agreed onboarding process, device, account, licences, applications and access can be prepared before the start date. Lead time depends on hardware availability and approvals.
What languages do you support in?
German, English, Spanish and French.
Can you manage multiple sites?
Yes. We work on site around Munich and connect other locations through secure networking and remote management.
What is the difference between endpoint protection, EDR, XDR and MDR?
Endpoint protection prevents and blocks known and suspicious activity on devices. EDR supports investigation and response on endpoints. XDR connects signals from several sources. MDR adds an external team that monitors and responds within an agreed scope.
Do you protect email and Microsoft 365?
Yes. Depending on the environment, we use Defender for Office 365 or Sophos Email, supported by SPF, DKIM, DMARC, identity controls, phishing simulations and a clear reporting process.
Is Claude or another AI tool safe for our business?
That depends on the plan, configuration, data and use case. The readiness assessment defines permitted data, roles, retention, quality control and integration before a pilot.
What does NIS2 mean for us?
Applicability depends on factors such as industry, size and supply-chain role. We support technical inventory, gap analysis and action planning; legal assessment remains with an appropriately qualified adviser.
How does a Microsoft 365 migration work?
After inventory, licensing and data assessment, a pilot group migrates first. Mailboxes, files and permissions then move in planned waves with communication, fallback and training.
Do we have named contacts?
Yes. You receive named contacts and a documented cover and escalation path.
